A boutique villa for feeling whole & alive
Over the past two years, Lindl and I visited hundreds of properties in search of a site we could turn into a boutique villa. When we found Stilkrans, a rugged and dramatic plot just above Wilderness on the Garden Route, we immediately fell in love. It looks out to the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other.
We’re now turning it into a place that is still, calm and slow by design. The type where you don't have to check out until 3pm and where one night feels like two.
We’ll share the full journey, from early ideas and architectural plans to build progress, milestones, and setbacks.

We currently imagine Stilkrans to be built from stone or brick, and natural materials that feel permanent, textured and lived-in. The architecture should work with the rugged landscape, not against it: terraced stone, Fynbos, thick walls, and interiors that feel warm, grounded, and human-scaled.
